Equipment for composting, composting technologies, automated composting systems, additional devices
Company: Backhus Eggersmann Group (Germany)
BACKHUS is the world’s largest manufacturer of special equipment for composting in open windrows and closed lanes. The company relies on its 25 years of experience in composting biodegradable waste (municipal waste, waste water sediment) and repairing contaminated soil. BACKHUS has delivered over 1,000 pieces of equipment to forty countries.
In addition, we offer windrow watering devices, windrow covering devices, compost filters, etc.
Composting technology
Intensive composting in open windrows
Composting of dewatered mud and other organic matter in open windrows is done on a hard surface field specially prepared for this purpose, where it is mixed with different obtainable structural materials in proper ratios to establish optimum organics and nutrients balance (N; P), optimum dry matter content (>40% dry matter) and optimum mixture structure. From then on regular windrow turning takes place in the course of approx. 10–12 weeks. Fermented compost is filtered and stored for ripening. Large screenings are added back into the composting process.
